Dr. Sheela, an Indian entrepreneur and English language educator based in Coimbatore, has been gaining recognition for her contribution to communicative English education through her institution, GLOBAL SR ENGLISH LEARNING ACADEMY. Founded in 2022, the academy focuses on delivering practical English language training through the Tamil medium, catering to students, job seekers, working professionals, and homemakers.
Dr. Sheela holds academic qualifications in economics and human resources, including a BA and MA in Economics from PSG College of Arts and Science, an MBA in Human Resource Management from Bharathiar University (Distance Education), and a M.Phil in Economics from PSGR Krishnammal College for Women. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Education by GLOBAL HUMAN PEACE UNIVERSITY, (Virtual University),USA, in 2025.
Under her leadership, GLOBAL SR ENGLISH LEARNING ACADEMY has adopted a personalized teaching approach. The institution offers a free-spoken English demonstration session before enrolment and limits training to individual sessions with a maximum of five learners per hour, completing each course within 40 sessions. She provides free study materials like books, note etc., Between 2022 and 2025, Dr. Sheela personally guided 129 learners through customized English language programs.
Her academic contributions include a research article published in the ‘International Journal of Informative and Futuristic Research’ in 2016. She has also authored eight original English learning books, each registered with an ISBN, which are exclusively used as course material at the academy.
The academy’s journey began in 2016 as Sairam Tuition Centre in Selvapuram, Indira Nagar, Coimbatore, initially offering academic coaching for students from Classes 6 to 12. Recognizing the need for spoken English proficiency, English language and personality development courses were introduced in 2018, leading to its rebranding as Sairam Educational Academy. In January 2022, the first independent campus was established in Ganapathy, followed by a second branch in Kovaipudur in August 2022. The institution was officially renamed GLOBAL SR ENGLISH LEARNING ACADEMY following trademark registration with the Government of India in January 2024.
In 2025, the academy received ISO 9001:2015 and international IAF ISO 9001:2015 certifications from the Egyptian Accreditation Council. In 2026, it further expanded its global footprint by obtaining Articles of Organization for a Limited Liability Company from the Secretary of State, Missouri, USA.
Dr. Sheela’s work has earned several recognitions, including the Best Women-Led Educational Institution Award from KG Groups (2025), Tamilnadu Achievers Award (2025), Certificates from the United Nations Book of World Records and the Asian Book of World Records (2025), the Excellence Award in Education (2026), the American Book of World Records (2026), the International Presidential Award (2026), and the International Excellence in Innovation Award from TIAF (2026). She has also received appreciation awards acknowledging her contribution to English language education.
She credits the consistent support of her family—including her husband Saravanakumar, her parents Thangavel and Kannaki, and her brother Anantharaman —for encouraging her educational initiatives during the early stages of her career. Dr. Sheela currently resides in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and continues to work toward making English language education accessible and practical for learners from diverse backgrounds
