New Delhi: The Department of Paurohitya, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, New Delhi, organised a book distribution programme on Saturday, 5 September 2026, on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. The programme was held in Room No. 301 of Swarna Jayanti Sadan for students enrolled in the Shastri, Acharya, One-Year Diploma Course and Part-Time Six-Month Certificate Course. A variety of useful books were distributed among the students during the programme.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and Vedic Mangalaacharana. The programme was presided over by Prof. Ramraj Upadhyay, Head of the Department of Paurohitya and Convener of the programme. In his presidential address, he explained the term ‘Paurohitya’ and highlighted its significance. He stated that a true priest is one who constantly thinks of and wishes for the welfare of others.
The chief speaker of the programme, Pandit Shri Neeraj Sharma, a renowned Acharya and social worker from the Lutyens’ area, Gita Bhawan, Mandi House, spoke on the significance and glory of the Guru. Through his inspiring address and devotional rendition in praise of the Guru, he captivated the audience.

On the occasion, renowned industrialist Shri Sandeep Kumar, known in India and abroad, distributed books to the students with his own hands and encouraged them to pursue their studies. Industrialist Shri Dinesh Ji also blessed and encouraged the students.
All the distinguished guests present on the occasion were welcomed and felicitated with floral garlands by Prof. Ramraj Upadhyay, Head of the Department of Paurohitya. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Nitesh Jha, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Ravindra Panda.

The programme was conducted by Dr. Madhusudan Sharma, Assistant Professor (Guest), Department of Paurohitya. The programme concluded with the recitation of the Shanti Mantra.
