Disney × KGL’s Paris Fashion Film — Eastape Films VFX, Led by VFX Producers Navi Joshi & Veerinder Singh

A recent Disney × Kanika Goyal Label (KGL) fashion campaign has placed visual effects and post-production at the centre of a cinematic fashion story, with Indian VFX and CGI studio Eastape Films handling the VFX and CGI work for the project. Titled “A Dream That Dreamed Itself,” the campaign brings Disney’s familiar visual identity together with KGL’s experimental approach to fashion, texture and design.

The campaign was shot in Paris and directed by Akshat Srivastava, while Navi Joshi and Veerinder Singh served as VFX producers.

A Dreamlike Concept Built Around Fashion and Visual Storytelling

“A Dream That Dreamed Itself” is built around the meeting point between Disney nostalgia and KGL’s contemporary Indian design language. The collection reinterprets Mickey & Friends through surrealist imagery, deconstructed silhouettes, textured materials and cultural references associated with KGL’s design vocabulary.

The collaboration has been described as a 114-piece capsule, bringing together ready-to-wear pieces and accessories. Its visual language combines familiar Disney characters with elements such as paisleys, temple architecture, chilli motifs, upcycled denim and hand embroidery, creating a deliberately unexpected relationship between global pop culture and Indian-inspired design.

Rather than presenting that concept through a conventional fashion advertisement, the film extends the collection into a more surreal and dreamlike visual environment. That creative direction gives VFX an important role in shaping the atmosphere while keeping the garments and performers at the centre of the frame.

Eastape Films Brings VFX and CGI Into the Live-Action Footage

For Eastape Films, the challenge was not simply to add digital effects. The VFX and CGI work had to remain integrated with the live-action footage captured in Paris. Digital elements therefore needed to respond naturally to the camera movement, perspective, lighting and surrounding environment of the original production.

This approach is particularly important in fashion films, where clothing, styling and cinematography already establish a strong visual identity. If visual effects appear disconnected from the footage, they can distract from the fashion itself. When the integration works, the VFX becomes part of the cinematography rather than looking like an element added afterwards.

Based in Mohali, Punjab, Eastape Films works across VFX, CGI and live-action production, using digitally created imagery to build cinematic visuals for advertising, fashion and other visual projects.

Paris Provides the Physical Foundation for the Film

The Paris shoot gave the campaign its physical setting and established the live-action foundation for the finished film. Post-production then provided the filmmakers with additional freedom to extend and manipulate that environment while retaining the original photographic character.

That balance between real footage and digital intervention is central to the project’s visual treatment. Paris supplies the physical world, KGL supplies the fashion language, Disney contributes its recognisable visual identity, and Eastape Films connects those elements through VFX and CGI. The result is a production in which fashion and post-production operate as parts of the same creative narrative.

A Cross-Cultural Fashion Collaboration With a Cinematic Edge

The Disney × KGL project reflects a broader movement in contemporary fashion communication: brands are increasingly using short films, visual effects and cinematic storytelling to give collections an identity beyond conventional campaign photography.

In this case, the dreamlike concept allows the collaboration to move between memory, imagination and fashion. KGL’s design vocabulary provides the experimental foundation, while Disney’s characters bring an instantly recognisable cultural reference point. The VFX treatment helps merge those two worlds without removing the physical presence of the clothing.

The campaign film adds another layer to that story by translating the collection’s concept into moving image.

Eastape Films’ Role in the Finished Visual Experience

With Navi Joshi and Veerinder Singh overseeing VFX production, Eastape Films handled a key stage between the Paris shoot and the completed campaign film. The work demonstrates how VFX and CGI can function as storytelling tools rather than merely technical effects.

“A Dream That Dreamed Itself” ultimately presents fashion as a cinematic experience. The campaign’s live-action foundation, experimental design language and digital post-production come together to create a visual world that extends beyond the limitations of the original location.
